Ring of Honor results from Day 1 of the Showdown in the Sun iPPV at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, FL, on March 30: Mark & Jay Briscoe over Shane Haste & Mikey Nicholls in a proving ground match; Jim Cornette interviewed NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce, which was interrupted by Adam Cole, leading to an impromptu match; Cole over Pearce; the All Night Express (Kenny King & Rhett Titus) over the Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) in a tornado match; Jay Lethal over Kyle O’Reilly to retain the ROH TV Title, followed by Lethal staring down Tommaso Ciampa and the Embassy, who still has Lethal’s belt; Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team (Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin) over Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander; Mike Bennett (w/ Maria Kanellis) over Lance Storm, including Bennett laying out Storm post-match; Kevin Steen over El Generico in a last man standing match, with interference from Jimmy Jacobs, who turned on Generico; and Davey Richards over Eddie Edwards and Roderick Strong (w/ Truth Martini) in a three-way to retain the ROH World Title, with Michael Elgin laying out Richards post-match and vowing to win the title on Saturday.

There were many technical issues during ROH’s iPPV on Friday night, prompting the company to issue the following statement: “Attn iPPV customers and ROH Faithful – the production team will be working overnight to make the VOD replay will be available error free tomorrow. Again we apologize and appreciate your patience.”

Results and highlights from Bellator 63 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, on March 30: Ben Saunders over Raul Amaya by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, and 29-28); David Rickels over Jordan Smith by knockout at 0:22 in the first round; Bryan Baker over Carlos Alexandre Pereira by split decision (29-28, 28-29, and 29-28); and Karl Amoussou over Chris Lozano by submission to a rear naked choke at 2:05 in the first round. All were opening round bouts for the welterweight tournament.

It was announced after Bellator 63 that the welterweight semi-final round will take place at Bellator 67 at the Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario, Canada, on May 4, confirming Saunders vs. Baker and Rickels vs. Amoussou.

Fox over Rich Swann; CIMA and Ricochet announced that due to an injury to CIMA, they had to vacate the Open the United Gate Title, and Masato Yoshino said he would take CIMA’s place in the match against Johnny Gargano and Chuck Taylor for the vacant title; Tommy Dreamer & Bobby Fish over the Scene (Scott Reed & Caleb Konley, w/ Larry Dallas); BxB Hulk over Sami Callihan, with Callihan saying post-match he wanted to end Sabu’s career, which led to Sabu attacking him; Sabu & Jon Davis over Arik Cannon & Pinkie Sanchez in a street fight, with Callihan attacking Sabu afterward; Masaaki Mochizuki over Akira Tozawa, with Christina Von Eerie low blowing Mochizuki post-match; Samurai Del Sol over Johnny Vandal; Low Ki over PAC; and Yoshino & Ricochet over Johnny Gargano & Chuck Taylor to win the Open the United Gate Title, with Taylor assaulting CIMA and turning on Gargano afterward.
